The draw was made on Friday
The draw for the European qualifying groups for the 2026 FIFA World Cup took place on Friday with a host of Barcelona players discovering their opponents.
Barca have a large Spanish contingent but still have to play Frenkie de Jong’s Netherlands in the Nations League quarter-finals first.
The result of that match will determine which group they go into.
Should Spain with the game they will drop into Group E and will face Turkey, Georgia and Bulgaria in World Cup qualifying.
However, if the Dutch emerge victorious then Spain will instead go into Group G and take on Robert Lewandowski’s Poland, Finland, Lithuania and Malta.
Here’s a look at the full European draw:
UEFA #FIFAWorldCup qualifying groups: locked in.
The top teams in each group qualify directly for the World Cup, while the runners-up go into a play-off. Qualifying is due to start in September of next year.
Spain will be heavy favourites of course to progress and will be eyeing the title in 2026, particularly after enjoying great success by winning Euro 2024.
