South Africa stripped of their 2023 Rugby World Cup title – RugbyLAD

South Africa have just been stripped of their 2023 Rugby World Cup title, World Rugby have announced in a shocking statement this morning.
The Springboks were crowned champions for a record-equalling fourth time in France last year when they defeated New Zealand 12-11 in the final to claim the Webb Ellis Cup.
But World Rugby have released a statement revealing that they have taken the media reports and pundit comments over the last few weeks into consideration and decided that Ireland are the best team in the world and therefore should be world champions.
“We’ve listened and decided to take action,” a World Rugby statement read.
“You keep telling us that Ireland are the best team in the world, and they did beat South Africa in the Pool stages of the Rugby World Cup, so we have decided to make it official and award them the Rugby World Cup.”

Ireland only made it to the quarter-final stages of the World Cup once again last year, but they did look pretty impressive against Italy and Wales in the Six Nations, and let’s not forget that win against France away from home.
World Rugby declined to comment when asked about Ireland vs England in this year’s Six Nations, while Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus has Tweeted a 60-minute video response.
