Virginia Tech football: Top QB target to announce college decision Sunday – Gobbler Country

The Hokies looking to add their second QB to the 2025 class.
The Virginia Tech Hokies could end this weekend with another big football commitment. On Sunday, quarterback AJ Brand is set to announce his college decision, which will be between South Carolina and Virginia Tech.
Brand, a 6-foot-2, 204-pound dual-threat passer from Irmo High School from just outside Columbia, South Carolina, is listed as an athlete with 247Sports, but several schools, including the Hokies, see Brand as a quarterback.
Brand passed for over 2,900 with 45 touchdowns last season and rushed for over 1,100 yards. He was one of the state’s top players.
The Gamecocks, who have been a thorn in the side of the Hokies this recruiting period, aren’t recruiting Brand as a quarterback, which could benefit Virginia Tech. Brand lives only minutes from South Carolina’s campus.
I will be Committing June 23rd!!!! Blessed to be in this position, stay tuned!!! @1luv5 @RivalsFriedman @Irmo_Football @5BrandEdd @247Sports @HaleMcGranahan @Irmo_Football pic.twitter.com/lvOrLsMDhP
If Brand commits, he’d be the eighth commitment to the 2025 recruiting class, including the second quarterback. Kelden Ryan from DeSoto, Texas, was VT’s first 2025 commitment last summer.
The Hokies held a big recruiting event this weekend, with several committed players and top targets on campus this weekend. Head coach Brent Pry could be sending out the bat signal several times over the next couple of weeks.
We’ll keep you posted on Brand’s decision, one way or another.
