The Horned Frogs nab the brother of Tommy Brockermeyer, who transferred to TCU last offseason.
TCU football made its first splash of the post-spring transfer portal window on Tuesday evening, with former Alabama offensive lineman James Brockermeyer announcing his commitment to the Horned Frogs on Twitter. The former four-star recruit from All Saints Episcopal in Fort Worth is the brother of Tommy Brockermeyer, who transferred from Alabama to TCU last offseason before medically retiring from football after 2023.

James Brockermeyer arrives after reportedly getting first-team reps with the Alabama offense during spring camp. The 6-foot-3, 285-pounder was a redshirt sophomore during the 2023 campaign and appeared in every game for the Crimson Tide last season. Brockermeyer made two appearances during the 2022 season and was Alabama’s backup center during the 2023 season, where he also had a role on special teams. The Horned Frogs are looking to reload on the offensive line after losing offensive tackles Andrew Coker and Brandon Coleman, as well as offensive guard Willis Patrick, to the NFL.
