After stocking up at other positions via the transfer portal, the Tigers land their potential QB1 in 2025.
Since the college football transfer portal opened on Dec. 9, many potential “crown jewel” players have entered it.
Exactly two weeks after the portal opened, Mizzou might’ve just acquired its crown jewel. It was announced Sunday night that the Tigers had received a commitment from former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula, per Matt Zenitz on X.
Penn State QB transfer Beau Pribula (@beauprib) has committed to Missouri, his agency @AurumSports tells @CBSSports/@247Sports.

Big get for Eli Drinkwitz and Mizzou. Pribula had ranked as one of the top uncommitted QBs in the transfer portal.https://t.co/eC74K0imzE pic.twitter.com/556Gl7XuSw
After redshirting his freshman season in 2022, Pribula backed up Drew Allar in 2023 and 2024. After Allar announced on Monday that he’d be returning to Happy Valley in 2025, it made sense for Pribula to look elsewhere.
In two season’s as Allar’s backup, Pribula flashed high potential. He completed 37 of 56 pass attempts for 424 yards and nine touchdowns with just one interception. However, arguably his biggest strength is is mobility, as he also ran for 571 yards and 10 touchdowns. Penn State would often use him sporadically in QB run packages, and he would often capitalize.
Pribula only played extensively once, and that came on Oct. 26 against Wisconsin, when Allar was forced out of the game with an injury. As the starter for the entire second half, Pribula completed 11 of 13 passes for 98 yards while also rushing for 28 yards in a 28-13 Nittany Lion win.
While Pribula lacked the type of major production many other quarterbacks in the transfer portal possessed, his upside plus a handful of in-game reps made him an attractive option for many power conference teams in need of a quarterback. With the imminent departure of Brady Cook and incoming freshman Matt Zollers still recovering from a major ankle injury, Mizzou certainly could’ve benefitted from adding another experienced signal-caller.
Pribula also took visits to Iowa, UCF and Ole Miss. However, he’ll ultimately end up in Columbia with two years of eligibility remaining.
