Soccer will be the featured sport for Uvalde Consolidated Independent School District’s three-day sports camp this week.
The $20-per athlete camp will get underway Tuesday, June 18, and it will run though Thursday, June 20, at the Uvalde High School soccer complex located off North Camp Street.
Activities, open to third- through ninth-grade boys and girls, will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
Uvalde High School girls’ head soccer coach Keith Pendleton and UHS boys’ head soccer coach George Menchaca will instruct the camp. Members of the UHS soccer teams will assist.
Leaders will stress soccer fundamentals, and Pendleton said that the camp will feature some soccer tactics.
“We are going to teach some tactical ideas,” said Pendleton.“We’ll do some warm-up drills and then camp will look a lot like a series of mini scrimmages. It should be a lot of fun for the kids.”
Camp registration may be done online or on-site just prior to the start of the first session.
