Wisconsin-Superior women’s soccer was able to avenge its only conference loss of the season thus far, taking down Bethany Lutheran in a 2-1 come-from-behind decision in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium.
The Yellowjackets fell behind in the fifth minute after an own goal and trailed until late in the first half. Julia Lindow evened it up for UWS in the 34th minute, while Mya Holmquist put the Yellowjackets in front about five minutes later.

UWS didn’t allow a shot on target as it successfully defended its lead in the second half, and goalie Quinn Clark needed to make only one save for the match.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, the Yellowjackets blitzed Northwestern late, scoring five times in the second half of an eventual 6-0 victory.
Holmquist opened the scoring in the seventh minute, but that’s how the game stayed through the end of the half.
Superior native Niya Wilson reopened the floodgates with her 13th goal of the season in the 49th minute, to be followed by UWS goals in the 54th, 55th, 62nd and 71st, including the latter two legs of Holmquist’s hat trick.
Clark made five saves in the UWS net.
The Yellowjackets (10-6, 8-1 UMAC) can clinch the conference regular-season championship as early as Tuesday with a win at North Central if Bethany fails to defeat Northwestern.
Goals from Zach Tiemeyer and Jake Kidd helped Wisconsin-Superior prevail in a tight UMAC contest against Bethany Lutheran on Saturday, Oct. 19 at Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium.

The Vikings actually had six shots on target to UWS’s five in the first half but it was Tiemeyer who had the only goal, in the 22nd minute.
UWS got the upper hand territorially after the break, with Jake Kidd doubling their lead in the 65th minute. A straight red card to BLC in the 79th minute all but extinguished the visitors’ challenge in a testy contest in which the teams combined for 11 yellow cards.
Alex Paredes made four saves for UWS.
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, UWS eased past Northwestern in Superior, scoring five times in the first half, three of them by Kidd, who completed his hat trick in the first 25 minutes of play.
Freddy Watson and Nicolai Stokker added to the Yellowjackets’ total before the break while Tiemeyer scored after it.
Paredes made one save in 66 minutes, while Carter Lansdale collected the other two shots.
UWS (11-3-2, 10-0 UMAC) travels to North Central on Tuesday night.

Wisconsin-Superior avenged a loss earlier in the season to St. Scholastica, sweeping the Saints 3-0 (26-24, 25-13, 25-21) in a nonconference match at Mertz Mortorelli Gym on Friday, Oct. 18.
The Yellowjackets had a highly efficient attack, hitting .314 for the contest. Though the Saints had 36 kills over the three sets, they also had 21 attack errors for a .118 hitting percentage. UWS had 44 kills and just 11 errors.
Maiana Stark of UWS led all players with 11 kills, while Ayla Oltmanns and Addy Gangl added eight apiece.
Colleen Claude (19) and Gabi Schwirtz (18) split up setting duties, while Jenna Anderson paced the Yellowjackets with 20 digs.
For CSS, Lindsey Baribeau posted 10 kills from some of Grace Myhre’s 30 assists. Bryn Ziegler had a team-leading seven digs.
