TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Indonesian National Team started training for the World Cup qualification match after a 10-hour flight from Bahrain to China. They held the first training session at the Qingdao Tiantai Stadium on Saturday, October 12, 2024.
“Because of the long journey, almost ten hours, so today’s training is divided into two groups,” coach Shin Tae-yong said in a statement from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) on Saturday.
The Garuda squad is preparing for the upcoming match in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers in the Asian Zone against China. The match will take place at the Qingdao Youth Football Stadium on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 20:00 local time.
The South Korean coach divided the training session into two groups after considering the stamina and energy of the players. The 53-year-old coach said there were no significant issues with the team’s condition.
However, he mentioned that Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh suffered minor injuries and will recover soon. “Apart from Jordi Amat and Sandy Walsh who suffered minor injuries, everyone is fine. We just need to adapt to the time and weather. Because the weather here is different from before,” said Shin Tae-yong.
In the current Group C standings, China as the host is in the bottom position with three losses. Indonesia is in fifth place with three draws. Japan is in the top position with three wins, while Australia, Saudi Arabia, and Bahrain follow in second, third, and fourth place with the same record of one win, one draw, and one loss.
