Gonzalez brings a wealth of experience to the Wildcats. The former letter winner and national champion with the UCLA men’s team was set to enter his 12th season as the head coach at UC Riverside in 2024. He coaches the Puerto Rican national team, which features former Arizona star Jill Aguilera. He has also served as an assistant coach for the United States U18 and U20 national teams.
Gonzalez comes to Arizona with 30 years of coaching experience. He started his coaching career as the goalkeepers’ coach for the UCLA women in 1994 when he was still playing professionally in the Continental Indoor Soccer League (CISL). Since then, he has coached both men’s and women’s teams at various stops, including Cal Poly Pomona, Washington, San Diego State, and USC. He has made two stops at UCLA and three at UC Riverside.
Gonzalez has won two Big West Coach of the Year honors. In his time heading the women’s team at UC Riverside, he has coached 30 All-Big West honorees, including seven Big West first-team selections.
Congleton comes to Arizona from the professional ranks. He has been with NJ/NY Gotham FC since 2020 as the Head of Sports Science. He has also been a consultant for Arizona since 2022, helping the coaching staff with data usage and load management.
Arizona women’s golf head coach Giovana Maymon made her first coaching hire on Monday, naming Brady Campbell as the program’s assistant coach.
Campbell spent the last two years as the assistant coach at Colorado State. He helped CSU qualify for the NCAA Las Vegas Regional in May, the program’s first postseason appearance since 2010.
Campbell was the 2021-22 Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) Coach of the Year as the women’s and men’s head golf coach at NAIA Lewis-Clark State College.
A native of Washington, he played collegiate golf at Division III Concordia University.
