The eyes of the cricketing world will now turn to the Men’s T20 World Cup. The ninth edition of the tournament will kick off in the West Indies and USA on June 1, marking the first time the latter has hosted a major ICC event. This year’s tournament is also an expanded edition, which will see twenty teams participate for the first time.
A couple of players have been a staple of this tournament ever since it was established in 2007. India’s Rohit Sharma and Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan have played at every edition of the T20 World Cup, and will be part of it in 2024 as well.

Rohit currently holds the record for the most matches played in the tournament, with 39. Shakib is close behind, on 36. Legendary Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni has not taken part in the last two tournaments, but has still notched up 33 appearances, which is also the record for most T20 World Cup matches played as skipper.
Additionally, a few other active players could increase their tally at this World Cup as David Warner (34 matches) and Mahmudullah (30) are set to represent Australia and Bangladesh respectively.
