Trending:
EA Sports’ highly anticipated College Football 25 debuted a few days early on Monday for those who purchased deluxe versions of the game, becoming the first major college football video game on the market since 2013.
The Miami Hurricanes are, of course, part of the game, and they are one of the top 25 teams in the game, earning an 88 overall rating (same as rival Florida State).
Three Hurricanes, running back Damien Martinez, defensive end Rueben Bain Jr. and wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, are among the top 100 players in the game. But who else earned high marks from the game’s developers? Here are some superlatives from the player ratings plus the overall ratings for every player on the team:
Running back Chris Johnson Jr. has blazing speed, earning a 98 speed rating in the game.
Johnson, a Dillard alumnus, was a track star in high school, earning South Florida Sun Sentinel track athlete of the year honors. He won state titles in the 100 and the 200 as a senior.
It may not be a surprise, but offensive lineman Francis Mauigoa is listed as the strongest player on the team with a 96 strength rating. The sophomore offensive lineman was a freshman All-American last year.
Veteran wide receiver Restrepo has the top catching rating on the team, notching a 94 rating. He became the sixth 1,000-yard wide receiver in program history last season
Tight end Cam McCormick gets the top toughness rating on the team, notching a 97 rating. McCormick, entering his ninth season of college football, has suffered numerous serious injuries in his career but has kept playing.
Notable players who are not included in the initial rosters include: wide receiver Ny Carr, wide receiver Shemar Kirk, wide receiver Robby Washington, offensive lineman Zion Nelson, linebacker Bobby Washington Jr., linebacker Chase Smith, cornerback Daryl Porter Jr., cornerback Damari Brown and cornerback Jadais Richard.
New transfers and freshmen Sam Brown, Tyler Baron, Zach Carpenter, Justin Scott, Booker Pickett, Adarius Hayes, Jordan Lyle, Chance Robinson, Artavius Jones, Abram Murray, Ryan Mack, Elias Rudolph, Romanas Frederique, Daylen Russell and Juan Minaya are also not on the initial roster.
