We’re at the halfway point of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers as all ten nations in the region battle it out for six of the guaranteed top spots that secure a ticket to the 2026 World Cup with the seventh placed side heading to an intercontinental playoff in search of a berth at football’s biggest event in two years time.

As things stand at this juncture, World Cup and Copa America holders Argentina top the standings having won six games, drawn one and lost two so far with Colombia and Uruguay snapping at their heels.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men will be looking to bounce back from their surprise defeat last week in Peru amid speculation that all is not a bed of roses in the Celeste camp under the demands of head coach Bielsa.

Ecuador have been erratic of late with two wins, two draws and one defeat in their past outings see Sebastián Beccacece’s men sit in fifth place and La Tri will be hoping to secure at least a point from the clash in Montevideo.

2026 WORLD CUP
The CONMEBOL qualifier between Uruguay and Ecuador will be played on Tuesday, October 15th with kick off at 7:30pm ET / 4:30 p.m. PT.
