DALLAS — Football fans and gamers everywhere are clamoring for the release of the highly-anticipated EA Sports College Football 25 video game.
The game allows fans to play as their favorite college football teams, face off against rivals and experience the culture and traditions of college football stadiums.
Fans of the game have waited over a decade for this release. The last edition of the game was NCAA Football 14, which came out right before the 2013 college football season.
The game’s developer, Electronic Arts, was barred from making the game after a 2013 court case ruled players’ likenesses couldn’t be featured in the game if athletes were not being paid. Until recently, athletes were barred from being paid based on their name, image and likeness (NIL).
With the recent changes to NIL rules, players can be paid, and the fan-favorite game is back!
EA Sports will release the game worldwide on July 19. However, players who preorder the Deluxe Edition of the game before July 18 will get early access starting July 16.
EA Sports College Football 25 will be released on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and S. PC gamers won’t have access to the game, at least not on release. There is no word from EA Sports on if a PC port is in development.
The game will feature all 134 Football Bowl Subdivision schools.
EA Sports offered FBS players a minimum of $600 and a copy of the game to have their likeness included in it. It also offered some players NIL deals to promote the game through an ambassador program.
The game’s cover athletes are Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, Colorado two-way player Travis Hunter and Michigan running back Donovan Edwards. The athletes were rated 92 overall, 95 overall and 91 overall, respectively.
