When and where is the next T20 Cricket World Cup? Date, hosts and qualifying details for 2024 tournament – Sporting News

The T20 Cricket World Cup is one of the most prestigious events in the world of sports, and the upcoming 2024 edition promises to be nothing short of spectacular.
After the success of the 50-over ODI World Cup in India, cricket fans worldwide can once again look forward to a tournament filled with exciting matches and unforgettable moments, as the best teams in the shortest format of the game compete for the coveted title.

The T20 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to begin on June 4, 2024 and will go on until June 30, 2024.
The last T20 World Cup was held in Melbourne, Australia in October 2022.
In a significant departure from tradition, the 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup will see the participation of 20 teams, marking an expansion that underscores the growing popularity of the sport. 
The T20 Cricket World Cup will be hosted by the West Indies and the United States of America.
The USA will host an ICC tournament for the first time in history. New York, Dallas, and Florida will host the USA part of the tournament.

For the first time, the 2024 edition will feature 20 teams. These teams will be initially divided into four groups of five, a departure from the usual group structure.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight phase. 
In the Super Eight phase, the remaining teams will be divided into two groups of four. From there, the top two teams in each group will earn their tickets to the semi-finals.
This revamped format is designed to increase competition and give more teams the opportunity to showcase their talent on the world stage.
It also promises to bring forth unexpected twists and turns in the journey to cricketing glory.
Twelve teams secured their places in the 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup via their finish in the last World Cup and the ICC T20I rankings, representing cricketing powerhouses and emerging nations alike.
Those teams were:
The remaining eight competing nations have been decided by a qualification schedule via the ICC’s regional qualifiers, from July to November 2023.
They comprise two teams from Africa, Asia and Europe, along with one team each from the Americas and the East Asia-Pacific groups.
