Texas football, seeded No. 5 in the College Football Playoff and coming off a 39-31 win over No. 4 Arizona State in double overtime in the Peach Bowl, will take on eighth-seeded Ohio State in the semifinals.
The winner of that game moves onto the CFP championship game (Jan. 20, 6:30 p.m., ESPN). The opponent would be Notre Dame or Penn State. Notre Dame, which beat second-seeded Georgia in the Sugar Bowl, plays Penn State in the other CFP semifinal (Jan. 9, 6:30 p.m., ESPN).
The Longhorns (13-2) and Buckeyes (12-2) should get very familiar with each other. After this CFP semifinal, Texas opens the 2025 season on Aug. 30 at Ohio State. So whoever loses this matchup will get a chance at revenge in the next game it plays.
