Vermont men’s soccer returns to the NCAA Tournament today for a fourth straight season at home. The America East champion Catamounts face against Iona, winner of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament.
Vermont (11-2-5) is making its 14th NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth since 2015. The Catamounts reached the quarterfinals in 2022 and the Round of 16 a year ago, collecting five NCAA Tournament victories in that span. The Gaels (11-4-3) booked its second tourney appearance in program history.
Yaniv Bazini and Maximilian Kissel, who scored the game-winner Sunday, pace Vermont with eight goals each. Sydney Wathuta’s 12 assists rank second nationally and Niklas Herceg sports a .79 goals-against average with a .810 save percentage in the net for Vermont, which is undefeated at home this season (7-0-4).
Today’s winner advances to play at Hofstra in a second-round matchup Sunday.
