Florida football will seek its first win against LSU since 2018 when the two schools meet Saturday at The Swamp.
No. 22 LSU (6-3, 3-2 SEC) has won five straight in the series and holds a 34-33-3 overall edge in a series that dates back to 1937. The Florida Gators, though, hold a slim 16-15-3 edge in the series at The Swamp.
Florida (4-5, 2-4 SEC) is looking to snap a two-game losing streak and is coming off a 49-17 loss at No. 3 Texas last Saturday. Florida is 0-4 against ranked teams this season and 4-1 against unranked teams. Florida head coach Billy Napier is 2-14 against ranked teams during his UF tenure.
The return of freshman quarterback DJ Lagway, who sat out the Texas game with a hamstring pull, should provide a spark to UF’s offense. Lagway has thrown for 1,071 yards and 6 TDs, averaging 11.6 yards per completion.
UF will honor members of the military and first responders in its salute to service game. Napier has had different speakers from all branches of the military speak to his team this week during practices.
“We need to show gratitude for their service,” Napier said. “It’s important for them to know what military life is like, acknowledge our veterans from the past. That level of sacrifice I think is very special.”
