In the immediate wake of Ghana’s failure to qualify to the 2025 FAOCN was officially confirmed, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo says the country must move on and focus on upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He said this in a presser ahead of Ghana’s final 2025 AFCON qualifier against Niger at the Accra Stadium at 16:00 GMT.
Ghana drew 1-1 with Angola in Luanda to remain winless five games into the qualification phase and subsequently miss out on making it to the AFCON for the first time in 20 years.
Despite the terrible campaign Ghana has endured in the AFCON qualifiers, the Black Stars have won all two games in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers ahead of games against Chad and Madagascar on March 19 and March 22 in 2025 respectively.
“I understand that people are disappointed, maybe angry and I am also disappointed but surely we must move on and prepare for the (2026) World Cup qualifiers.”
Ghana needed to win its last two qualification games to stand a chance of qualifying to next year’s AFCON that will be held in Morocco.
