Club Aims to Inspire the Next Generation and Make Women’s Soccer More Accessible
 
Washington, DC (04/20/2024) – The Washington Spirit will take the NWSL x La Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup on the road expanding the reach of women’s soccer to neighboring states. As part of the tour, the Spirit will visit Philadelphia, PA and Richmond, VA along with opponents Chivas, NJ/NY Gotham FC and the Chicago Red Stars. The Spirit will offer bespoke merchandise for these matches to commemorate the road trip and engage Philadelphia and Richmond fans.
 
“This is a great opportunity to help support our vision to inspire the next generation and grow the women’s game,” said Spirit Chief Operations Officer Theresa McDonnell. “We are excited to partner with our friendly rivals at Gotham to bring world class soccer to Philly. Then we’ll go south to host the Red Stars, bringing NWSL fandom to more markets.”
 
The Spirit will kick off the tournament against Chivas at Subaru Park on July 21 at 5 p.m. ET. The Spirit and Gotham FC will also meet in Philadelphia on July 28 when the clubs play at Subaru Park at 6 p.m. ET.  Spirit will round out the group stage when the club travels south to Richmond to play the Chicago Red Stars at City Stadium on July 31 at 7:30 p.m. ET
 
For the matches July 21 and July 28 in Philadelphia, Season Ticket Members for the Spirit, Gotham FC and the Union will receive priority presale access that begins on Monday, May 6 at 10 a.m. ET and closes on Thursday, May 9 at 12:00 p.m. ET. On May 9 at noon, tickets to the matches will be open to the public.
 
For the match in Richmond on July 31, Spirit Season Ticket members and CityStadium+ Members will receive priority presale beginning on Monday, May 6 at 12:00 p.m. ET and ending Thursday, May 9 at 12:00 p.m. Tickets will be available to the public beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET on May 9. Spirit Season Ticket Members will receive additional information from their account representative.
 
Each club will play three matches in the Group Stage. A four-team semifinal round will take place the week of Aug. 4, with the championship match scheduled for the weekend of October 25-27.
