WAHS Boys Soccer Wins the Regionals a Perfect Season Record – The Crozet Gazette

The Warriors boys’ soccer team moves onto the state quarterfinals after a perfect 18-0 season after winning the regional tournament over Turner Ashby 3-1 at Western Albemarle High May 28. The team scored a total of 70 goals during the season, outscoring their opponents by 59 goals. Senior Jamey Williamson topped the goal count for the team with 14 goals and 10 assists and was selected as Class 3 Player of the Year. Senior Connor Spano had 10 goals and 13 assists and was selected for 1st team all-district, sophomore Parker Polk had 10 goals and 5 assists, junior Ronan McDonald had 7 goals and 3 assists and senior Ben Brockmeier had 6 goals and 5 assists. Coach Michael Nafziger was named Class 3 Coach of the Year.

The defense was led by three seniors, Ben Brockmeier, Cashel Yates and Trip Janucik. Brockmeier and Yates were also selected for 1st team all-district. The midfield was anchored by senior Rafa Ibanez and Junior Ronan MacDonald, both of whom were selected for 1st team all-district. Selected for 2nd team all-district were sophomore forward Parker Polk, and senior defender Trip Janucik. Junior goalkeeper Anders Felts received an honorable mention for Class 3 all-district, giving up only one goal in the run of play all season.
