Several Hokies honored in college football’s top preview magazine.
We are just over two months away from the 2024 college football season. We are less than one month away from the return of the EA Sports video game “College Football 25.” College football fans received even more good news this week when “Phil Steele’s 2024 College Football Preview” landed in the mailboxes of VIP subscribers.
While the days of heading to local newsstands and buying several college football preview magazines are mostly over, Steele’s preview remains the preeminent college football preview as fans use it as a resource throughout the season.
So, what does Steele think about the 2024 Virginia Tech Hokies? In his preseason top 25, Steele has the Hokies coming in at No. 17. He likes VT’s offense with quarterback Kyron Drones and also Virginia Tech’s schedule.
In addition to Steele’s overall outlook for the Hokies, he also likes the roster. Steele has 11 Hokies in his preseason All-ACC or All-American teams.

Head coach Brent Pry did an outstanding job in the offseason of retaining so many key players. Of the above players listed, only Peebles is a newcomer. It’s a bit of a surprise not to see junior cornerback Mansoor Delane on any of these preseason lists. Steele ranked Delane as one of the top 10 cornerbacks in all of college football.
