The 2014 World Cup in Brazil gave us magical and unforgettable moments for all soccer fans, from the group stage to the final between Argentina and Germany. However, there was one moment that will be etched in the history of this sport: James Rodríguez’s stunning goal against Uruguay in the Round of 16 at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
On June 28, 2014, in the Round of 16 of the World Cup in Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay were battling for a spot in the quarterfinals. It seemed like it would be a tight match with chances for both teams. However, James Rodríguez shattered Uruguay’s hopes with a brilliant volley from outside the box, putting Colombia up 1-0 in the 28th minute.

Later, in the second half, James Rodríguez struck again to increase Colombia’s lead, sealing a 2-0 victory and securing their place in the next round, where they would face the host team, Brazil.
