VIDEO REPORT: New Orleans leaders working to secure Rugby World Cup
The United States will host the Rugby World Cup for the first time in 2031 and the city of New Orleans wants to get in on the action.
NOLA Gold Rugby along with the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation is trying to secure a host site for the city.
The city would love to get some games for the five-week tournament but are aiming to host the final.
New Orleans is no stranger to hosting big sporting events.
The city is set to host the Super Bowl for the eighth time.
It has already hosted five NCAA College Football National Championship games, six Men’s Final Four’s, three Women’s Final Four’s and two WrestleMania’s.
The Rugby World Cup is the third largest sporting event in the world behind the FIFA World Cup and Olympics.
The shortlist of cities will be announced early next year and we’ll find out if New Orleans made the cut by the end of 2025.
