Vicksburg, Miss.-The Vicksburg High School soccer team volunteered with Toys for Tots over the weekend.
The Gators spent most of the early afternoon volunteering by rearranging toys for kids who will receive a special gift for Christmas.
“This was just something to give back to the community that always supports us,” VHS Head Coach Maurice Gilliam said. “Teaching kids the importance of volunteering is a big thing because someone’s eyes are always on you.”
The volunteering took place at the Word Church of Vicksburg.
“Soccer is about more than wins and losses it’s about building character and leadership,” Gilliam added. “The VHS soccer teams came together to support Toys for Tots, demonstrating the importance of giving back to the community. Events like this teach young athletes the value of service and teamwork, both on and off the field, good job teams.”
