Vermont soccer sits one win away from history.
The Catamounts (14-2-5) have a chance to advance to the program’s first College Cup when they take on the two-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers (12-5) in today’s quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament. The winner advances to the national semifinals.
Playing in its fourth straight NCAA Tournament and 14th overall, Vermont earned its second quarterfinal appearance in three seasons following Sunday’s 1-0 overtime victory at San Diego. Pittsburgh, which has played in five consecutive NCAA tourneys and reached the College Cup in 2020 and 2022, also needed overtime in the Round of 16, 3-2 over Kansas City, to stay alive.
