FIFA World Cup Qualifiers

The CONMEBOL 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will return to action with a clash between World and South American champions Argentina and Venezuela in round nine. The visitors sit at the top of the summit with 18 points in hand from six wins in eight games. La Albiceleste are expected to come up with a response and return to winning ways after facing a defeat to Colombia in their last outing.
Venezuela on the contrary have had a decent journey in the qualifiers so far. They are placed sixth on the table. They are level on points with Brazil with ten points in hand.
La Vinotinto are eyeing history by making it to their maiden World Cup and are well on course to achieve that. The fact that they have remained undefeated in six of their eight games speaks volume about what they bring to the table.

Lionel Messi returns to the national team setup for the first time since his injury in the Copa America final in July. The Argentine great has looked in great shape and comes into the break after winning the MLS Supporters’ Shield with Inter Miami. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has already scored three goals in the qualifiers and will be keen to hit the ground running after a long absence from the national team.
Venezuela are expected to have a fully fit squad available for selection.
Paulo Dybala and Alejandro Garnacho are ruled out due to injuries while Cristian Romero and Emiliano Martinez are out due to suspension for Argentina.
