ARLINGTON, Texas – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced that an affiliate membership invitation in the sports of men’s soccer and women’s swimming & diving issued by the conference’s Board of Directors to The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) has been accepted. UTRGV will compete as an affiliate member in both sports beginning with the 2024-25 academic year.
UTRGV has participated in the WAC as a men’s soccer member since the program was re-established in 2015. UTRGV men’s soccer program will compete as an affiliate during the 2024-25 academic year.
UTRGV Athletics will launch its women’s swimming & diving program in the fall of 2024 and will compete inside the state-of-the-art City of Pharr Natatorium. The venue previously hosted the 2023 and 2024 WAC Swimming & Diving Championships prior to the UTRGV program’s official debut.
