A big jump after winning gold.
The United States Women’s National Team will end 2024 in a familiar place. The December 2024 FIFA world rankings were released, and the USWNT remain at #1 in the world.
The USWNT hold around a 59 point advantage on #2 Spain. The USWNT ended their 2024 calendar by drawing England on the road and beating the Netherlands in The Hague. The top 10 saw some changes, with the list now USA, Spain, Germany, England, Sweden, Canada, Brazil, Japan, North Korea, and the Netherlands. France, who fall to 11, see themselves outside of the Top 10 for the first time in the history of the women’s rankings.

The USWNT don’t really rest in 2025, as they have loaded up some incredible friendlies for the first few months of the year. For SheBelieves Cup in February, they will play Japan (#8), Australia (#15), and Colombia (#21). They then will host Brazil (#7) for two home friendlies in April. They expect to have plenty of other tests as the year progresses.
Concacaf outside of the United States and Canada have some ground to make up. Mexico checks in at #31, followed by Jamaica (#40), Costa Rica (#43), and Haiti (#54). But, the USWNT have made up for that by playing some tough matches against Canada and outside of the region. The USWNT ended up facing 6 teams in the top 10 of the final rankings in 2024. They now will carry that #1 ranking into 2025.
