The Americans skirted past the Reggae Boyz, 1-0, in the first leg on Nov. 14 in Kingston, Jamaica. It was their first competitive victory under the guidance of new manager Mauricio Pochettino. The United States will look to put the Jamaicans away in the second leg tonight and clinch a spot in the CONCACAF Nations League semifinals.
The U.S. nabbed an early fifth-minute Ricardo Pepi goal and proceeded to hold off the Jamaicans, including goalkeeper Matt Turner’s penalty save. Pepi has emerged as Pochettino’s go-to weapon after some choppy waters before his arrival.
Already plagued with injuries, the United States became even thinner at midfield with Johnny Cardoso and Aidan Morris both suffering injuries in the first leg. Luckily, Tim Weah will return from suspension to provide a boost.
The Americans are down to a 23-man squad.
Goal differential is critical in having a strong seed in the semifinals come springtime 2025, if the Americans can make it that far. A 1-0 advantage is comforting. But, if this is like Kingston, it will be nerve-racking as well.
The United States will advance with a win or a draw and have won three consecutive Nation’s League finals. The semifinals will take place Mar. 20, 2025, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

The Jamaicans are staring at a 1-0 aggregate deficit as they head to The States for the second leg. It was their first defeat under new manager Steve McLaren.
Jamaica outshot (12-6) the United States and had the one penalty attempt after Pepi peppered in the only goal. Still, they were held scoreless, continuing a troubling trend.
The Jamaicans grab headlines with their defense, but their offense has only scored four goals in the last five games. Two of those were own goals and one was via penalty. They were shutout three times in that span.
Ethan Pinnock’s absence was felt throughout the first leg. He will miss again, and they will also be without Michail Antonio and Kaheim Dixon.
Facing a 1-0 deficit, the Reggae Boyz will need to overcome their weakness and find the net multiple times to reach the next round.
United States projected XI: Matt Turner, Antonee Robinson, Tim Ream, Yunas Musah, Joe Scally, Tim Weah, Weston McKennie, Gianluca Busio, Alex Zendejas, Ricardo Pepi, Christian Pulisic
Jamaica projected XI: Andre Blake, Greg Leigh, Di’Shon Bernard, Amari’i Bell, Mason Holgate, Dexter Lembikisa, Kasey Palmer, Joel Latibeaudiere, Leon Bailey, Damion Lowe, Demarai Gray
