ICC T20 World Cup starts on June 2nd (X)
The ICC T20 World Cup is set to kick off on June 2nd with a match between USA and Canada at Dallas’ Grand Prairie Stadium. Co-hosted alongside West Indies, USA is offering its members a 25% discount for the three home games.
In total, three games are included in this offer. The first match will feature USA against Canada in the opener, followed by USA versus Pakistan on June 6th, and then USA versus Ireland on June 14th.
“Fans can now secure tickets for three home matches at a remarkable 25% discount, fostering an atmosphere of unity and fervor in backing the national team’s historic journey in the tournament” read a USA Cricket statement.
Efforts to popularize cricket in the country have been ongoing, especially with the sport’s inclusion in the 2028 Olympics, which will be held in the USA. The anticipation is that cricket will gain even more traction in the country.
For the first time ever, the USA is participating in a T20 World Cup. The USA team has been showing promising form recently, securing victories against Bangladesh in their last two matches. With their strong performance, USA is emerging as a dark horse in the tournament, poised to surprise many.
This tournament marks the ninth edition of the tournament, and notably, it’s the first time that 20 teams have been included in the competition.
India’s inaugural match is scheduled against Ireland on June 5th.
