DENTON, Texas – UNT Athletics has been included as a potential training site in the updated online Team Base Camp Brochure released by FIFA in preparation for the FIFA World Cup 26™, offering participating teams a variety of "homes away from home" for the tournament.
UNT will now be potentially considered by participating nations as a primary base for teams during the group stage, where they will train, rest and prepare for their matches.
The updated brochure includes 26 new options in cities throughout the United States – such as Boise, Colorado Springs, Columbus, Greensboro, Orlando, Tampa and Tucson – as well as in Pachuca in Mexico. This marks a significant expansion, offering a diverse range of facilities across the tournament’s footprint. Host Cities including Houston and New York New Jersey have also added new potential sites, further broadening the options for the national teams that ultimately qualify for the biggest FIFA World Cup™ ever.
Teams will submit their final selections following the Final Draw for the FIFA World Cup 26. The draw, anticipated to be staged in December 2025, will reveal the geographic zones in which teams will play their group matches, further guiding their decisions regarding their respective Team Base Camp locations.
UNT Athletics features the Soccer and Track & Field Stadium which opened in 2019. The facility features a 14,000-square foot fieldhouse, a sand-based soccer field, an eight-lane track, facilities for field events and seating for approximately 1,500, which includes some covered seating and chair-back seats. The stadium includes coaches’ offices, locker rooms, a team-meeting area and an athlete lounge.
FIFA World Cup 26™ is scheduled to be played in 16 cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico, including Dallas. The tournament will be played from June 11-July 19, 2026.
