EAST HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) – UConn football continued their winning ways, taking down the Temple Owls at Rentschler Field 29-20 Saturday evening.
The game started off slow on the scoring front, with field goals accounting for most of it.
Temple scored the only touchdown of the half in the second quarter, blocking a punt in the end zone.
UConn broke through with their first touchdown when Joe Fagnano found TJ Sheffield, who took it 58 yards for the score.
After three quarters of mostly kicks through the uprights, touchdowns were the highlight of the fourth quarter.
With 9:52 to go, the Owls punched it in thanks to an eight yard run by Junior Quarterback Forrest Brock, giving them a 20-16 lead.
Almost six minutes exactly later, Freshman Running Back Durell Robinson ran it in from one yard out, giving the Huskies a three point cushion.
However, the Owls wouldn’t go quietly, as they drove down the field and got into scoring position with time winding down.
The Huskies defense stepped up massively, stopping the Owls short of the goal line and even taking a fumble back for a game sealing touchdown.
Temple now drops to 1-5 on the season, while UConn improve to 4-2.
The Huskies have a bye week coming up before taking on Wake Forest at Rentschler Field at 12:00 p.m. on October 19th.
