Tyler Lockett And Local HS Girls Flag Football Team To Announce Seahawks Third Round Pick – Seahawks.com

Tyler Lockett will be joined by members of the Emerald Ridge High School girls flag football team on Friday as they announce the Seahawks No. 81 overall pick in the third round.
Lockett will help to put a spotlight on girls flag football as they announce the Seahawks third round pick. From May 1-10, the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association will vote whether to sanction girls flag football as a high school sport.
In a press conference during voluntary offseason workouts, Lockett said the opportunity for girls flag football to be sanctioned is “dope.”
“I think it’s just a really cool opportunity,” Lockett said. “But I also do think that it should be a sport because even as you look at the Pro Bowl and what’s happening with flag football becoming a thing. I think that it is going to continue to be something that’s going to be really big down the line and I think it’s a way that women can be a part of and play football.”
If girls flag football becomes sanctioned in Washington, it will be the 12^th state. Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Nevada, Alaska, New York, Arizona, Illinois, California, Tennessee and most recently Colorado have all sanctioned girls flag football.
