SEATTLE — A University of Washington football player accused of raping two women and a player accused of assaulting a bicyclist in Seattle are no longer part of the Huskies’ football team, according to UW.
Officials at the university confirmed Tylin “Tybo” Rogers and Diesel Gordon are no longer part of the football program, but did not provide information as to why or how they were removed.
Rogers, an 18-year-old running back, is facing multiple rape charges after allegedly attacking two women during the 2023 UW football season. He previously pleaded not guilty in a King County court and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 21.
During the 2023 season, authorities began investigating Rogers after a Seattle Central Community College student said she was raped in October 2023 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. Investigators believed Rogers was involved in another rape case from November 2023 in the University District, involving a 22-year-old undergraduate student at the University of Washington.
Gordon, a safety, entered the transfer portal in April, according to Sports Illustrated.
Rogers and Gordon were both charged and pleaded not guilty on May 2 for allegedly assaulting a bicyclist near campus in March. According to charging documents, the bicyclist told police he was riding in the University District when two people in a car began yelling at him to get on the sidewalk.
When the bicyclist flipped them off and spat at the driver, the driver then reportedly attempted to hit him. The two people in the car – later identified as Gordon and Rogers, who were both wearing UW athletics-branded clothes – then found the bicyclist later, hitting and spitting on him, charging documents said.
