This could be the wildest portal window yet
Here we go again.
The NCAA transfer portal re-opens on April 16 for college football, a 15-day window that happens to fall right in the middle of spring practice for Arizona and many other programs. And though it’s unlikely to result in as many players entering across the country as during the 45-day period at the end of the regular season, the anticipation is for mass chaos.
“I think there could be some really interesting movement in college football,” UA coach Brent Brennan said. “This situation we’re in, that everyone in college football is in, it’s just so interesting and so rare. And so we’re all kind of going through it for the first time.”
This will actually be the third portal window for Arizona’s roster, as Jedd Fisch’s sudden departure in mid-January triggered an additional 30-day period for Wildcats to go portaling. Many did, more than in the first one, and the UA already saw a few players who participated in the first two weeks of spring practice announce their intentions to leave even before the portal opened.
Arizona is expected to be quite active in the portal from an acquisition standpoint, as it currently has more than 15 open scholarships.
Below is a rundown of the UA’s roster activity during the spring:
