The non-profit organization has honored South Jersey football players since its inception in 1967.
“The Touchdown Club has a long and storied history of recognizing South Jersey’s finest football athletes on and off the field and we are excited that there are more athletes to welcome to our club,” Touchdown Club president Mark Trible said in a press release. “We are fully supportive of Girls Flag Football as a sport and are steadfast in the belief that its athletes should be acknowledged and honored in the same way we have done with our tackle football players.
“We are thrilled to open our club to the sport and all who have helped it grow.”
Cioffi added, “As a longtime member of the Touchdown Club’s Executive Board, I am excited and appreciative that the Club has embraced Girls’ Flag Football. I couldn’t think of a better organization to take this on and continue to honor student-athletes as we do in the fall.
“As flag football continues to grow in New Jersey, I am excited to see it grow within the club as well.”
