Ayden Wood, Mackenzie Brown and Elle Lassiter all retained their area-best titles as part of the 2024 All-Sumner County girls soccer team.
Wood was once again named Offensive Player of the Year, Brown defended her Defensive Player of the Year award and Lassiter received Midfielder of the Year for a second consecutive season.

Four of Sumner County’s top five teams were recognized with annual honors – Liberty Creek’s Addie Taylor was voted Goalkeeper of the Year and Class A state champion Merrol Hyde won Team of the Year.
The all-county team features athletes from nine schools: Beech, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Liberty Creek, Merrol Hyde, Portland, JPII, Station Camp and White House.
The full team is listed below:
Offensive Player of the Year: Ayden Wood, Station Camp senior
Stats: 33 goals, 20 assists
Wood’s stats were still historic even if not as eye-popping as a season ago.
The Chattanooga signee set a school-record 118 goals after another 30 scores as a senior – her career total being a dozen more than JPII and South Carolina star Katie Shea Collins and marking the first triple-digit scorer in Station Camp’s soccer history.

Defensive Player of the Year: Mackenzie Brown, Hendersonville junior
Stats: Seven shutouts
Brown started a streak of her own for the Class AAA sectionalist Commandos.
As a junior she became a two-time All-District 12-AAA selection, a two-time District 12-AAA MVP winner and a two-time Sumner County Defensive Player of the Year honoree.
Her play powered Hendersonville’s defense to 12 wins and seven shutouts.

Midfielder of the Year: Elle Lassiter, Station Camp senior
Stats: 29 goals, 8 assists
Lassiter and Wood made up one of the most impressive offensive tandems in the Midstate, accounting for 90 scores combined across their senior season.
The two Chattanooga commitments took on an expanded leadership role late, coaching their teammates to two wins at the state tournament after both went down with injuries.
Goalkeeper of the Year: Addie Taylor, Liberty Creek junior
Stats: 11 shutouts
Taylor learned from 2019 Sumner County Goalkeeper of the Year Mykal Manfred to take the honor herself as a junior.
She posted 10 straight shutouts and five one-goal games for the Wolves, who faced a top-tier schedule before falling to eventual state champion Merrol Hyde in the Class A quarterfinals.
Coach of the Year: Jeremy Cooke, Station Camp
Resume: 16-8 record, District 9-AA champions, Region 5-AA champions, Class AA state runner-up
Station Camp breezed through its district and region schedule, thanks in part to the top talent of Wood and Lassiter.
Cooke coached them the rest of the way once both players went down. With five lineup changes and more contributions from the sideline, the Bison fended off Valor College Prep and Tennessee High in the state tournament and finished a few penalty kicks from a successful state championship defense against Franklin County.

Resume: 18-3 record, District 7-A champions, Region 4-A champions, Class A state champions
Merrol Hyde won its third state championship in four years and in the process took down the team that denied them a four-peat.
The Hawks were a perfect 9-0 against their classification – winning by a combined 62-2 score – and they enacted revenge on defending champ Liberty Creek with a 2-1 win in the first round of the state tournament.
Jaylin Baxter and Gianna Cruz had near 30-goal seasons for their offense. Defenders Ava Wei, Eliza Doyle and Presley Altepeter combined for a county-high 14 shutouts with goalkeeper Emma O’Neill. And Jason Bentley received yet another championship coach’s plaque to add to a stuffed trophy case.
