Christian Pulisic, who is enjoying his best season as a professional for A.C. Milan, has been nominated for The Best FIFA Football Award for midfielders.
The U.S. men’s national team standout was one of 22 players who made the list.
The other candidates were: Acosta, Almada, Baena, Bellingham, Calhanoglu, Camavinga, Foden, Ganso, Kroos, Kubo, López, Odegard, Olmo, Palmer, Rice, Rodri, James Rodríguez, Fabián, Valverde, Wirtz and Xhaka.
Pulisic, who accrued a career-best 16 goals last season, has racked up eight goals and four assists in 18 contests across all competitions this season. For the USMNT, he has scored twice and assisted on two goals in his last five appearances.
He started A.C. Milan to a 3-2 victory over host Slovan Bratislava in the UEFA Champions League with a brilliant individual goal in the 21st minute on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Tammy Abraham, just past the center circle, hit an on-rushing Pulisic on the right flank. Pulisic outran his marker down that side before slotting from 12 yards into the lower left corner past goalkeeper Dominik Takáč to lift the Italian Serie A team to a 1-0 lead.
