The agent of Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez reveals an upcoming meeting with the club next week to discuss the new contract.
The two parties have been negotiating an extension for several months, but the white smoke has yet to emerge.
The Argentine is reportedly seeking a net salary of 10 million euros, while the management is only offering 9M per year.
Therefore, the two parties will meet again next week in the hopes of finding a solution, reveals the striker’s agent.
“For us, it means a lot to work on the extension two years before the deadline. Next week there is a meeting scheduled with Inter,” said Alejandro Camano in his interview with Telelombardia via FcInterNews.
“Nobody is nervous, we are working to find an agreement that is good for the player and for the club. This negotiation is obviously followed by all the clubs in Europe.
“We must analyze the feelings and reality of a professional who lives for football. And this is the reality: we want to find an agreement and we work for it, but we have to find one that is good for everyone.
“If the player is doing badly on the pitch, they send him away. Lautaro scored 25 goals, so I have to find a satisfactory agreement for the player.”
Camano also discussed the ownership change at Inter. He would like to understand Oaktree’s intentions regarding his client.
“The change of ownership presents a new reality. I have to understand the new mentality but I am very calm.
“There are great professionals like Marotta and Ausilio, they know Lautaro very well. He plays at Inter on merit.
“Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund were very close to signing him, but he ended up at Inter thanks to Ausilio, who did a great job.
“Now we have to find an agreement for Lautaro that is in line with the market standards of the current day and age.”
The agent reiterates his desire to keep the striker at Inter for the rest of his playing career.
“I would like Lautaro to play at Inter for life. The club is very serious. We work to make the fans happy.
“But everyone must understand that today’s football always involves a lot of interest. We must find an agreement that suits everyone.”
“His contract expires in 2026, if the club decides to sell him he can leave but the contract still lasts for another two years.
“He himself says there is a lot of time to renew because he doesn’t listen to any other club. I have no offers on the table, and we’re only listening to Inter.
“If the new ownership decides to sell him, we will listen to any offers. If not, he has a contract, we will listen to Inter every time as long as the contract is still running.”
Finally, Camano reveals the player’s desire to win all possible trophies with Inter and Argentina.
“Many great players have played at Inter in the past and there was a president like Moratti who dedicated his life to the club.

“We have to think like professionals, but now Lautaro thinks he can win everything with Inter and Argentina.”
