ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Oregon football’s top wide receiver left the game at Michigan in the first quarter on Saturday due to an apparent shoulder injury.
With the Ducks driving on their opening possession, Tez Johnson left the field and went to the Ducks’ locker room favoring his right shoulder. He returned to the Oregon sideline with what appeared to be a sling on that shoulder, and was out for the remainder of the game.

Oregon coach Dan Lanning did not have further updates on Johnson’s status after the game.
”This guy is a winner in every piece of that word, what it means to be a winner,” Lanning said. “Tez is that for us. We always talk about opportunities, and I’m glad other guys were able to step up and continue to have success out there in this game, knowing that Tez was down.”
Johnson, who had one reception for 11 yards on the opening drive, came into the game leading Oregon with 63 receptions for 638 yards and eight touchdowns.
”I hate it for him because I love the competitor he is,” quarterback Dillon Gabriel said of Johnson. “He’s a guy that loves the game and is vocal about his passion. … Just like how I hated it for (Terrance Ferguson) and hearing that (his injury) happened, but Ferg came back and played his butt off and contributed. I know Tez will do the same.”
Johnson’s replacement on punt returns, Ryan Pellum, lost a fumble late in the first quarter that gave the ball back to the Wolverines deep in Oregon territory. Pellum was later replaced by Evan Stewart on punt returns.
Johnson returned to the Oregon sideline in street clothes in the second quarter, sporting a towel along with the apparent shoulder sling.
