Texas football has had quite the year and the stats show why.
In season No. 1 as an SEC program, the Longhorns clinched a spot in the conference championship game thanks to a 7-1 record in league play. Texas’ 11 wins include those against Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Oklahoma and Michigan. The only blemishes on their record come from an October loss to Georgia and a loss to the Bulldogs in the SEC title game.
The defense has been the headline but the offense has been steady as well. Seven players were recognized by the conference for their play this year and two players, Kelvin Banks Jr. and Jahdae Barron, were named named to the All-SEC first team.
In case you missed it, the Longhorns were made the fifth seed in the College Football Playoff bracket reveal Sunday. Texas will host Clemson at 3 p.m. Dec. 21 in Austin. Clemson won the ACC title 34-31 over SMU last week.
