Have you heard the news yet? Georgia football is taking on the top ranked team in the country this weekend when they travel to Texas to take on the Longhorns.
Texas presents a lot of challenges that Georgia is going to have to try and handle this Saturday. I think everyone is aware of how talented the Longhorns' offense is, but one thing that isn't getting talked about enough is their elite defense. In fact, Texas has the No. 1 ranked defense in the country.
While that statistic probably scares you, looking at their opponents and how talented (or lack thereof) they are you will quickly see how the Longhorns are able to have the top ranked defense so far this season.
Offenses Texas has played so far (Total Offense)
UTSA: 67th
Mississippi State: 78th
Colorado state: 86th
Michigan: 119th
Oklahoma: 125th
ULM: 127th
The above post shows very clearly how Texas has managed to have the top ranked defense. All six of their opponents they have played do not have a good offense. Three of them don't even crack the top 100, and the best offense they have faced is only No. 67.
I'm sure you know where I am going with this, so would you like to guess where Georgia's offense ranks so far this season?
The Bulldogs will enter this game with the 28th ranked offense in the country. That by no means is an elite offense statistically, but it is much better than any other team Texas has faced.
So I think the Longhorns are going to struggle to slow down this Georgia offense on Saturday. We all saw what Carson Beck and the offense can do last week in their win over Mississippi State when Beck had a career performance, but can they do that on the biggest stage in college football? Not only do I think they can, but I think they will. I think Texas won't have much of an answer for the Georgia offense at all and will be surprised with how talented they are.
In my mind this game is going to come down to if Georgia can slow down the Texas offense, which is No. 7 in the country by the way. If they can do that then I think the Bulldogs will come away with a big win on Saturday.
