Tacoma and Pierce County have been officially designated as a Fan Zone for the Seattle FIFA World Cup 2026 (SeattleFWC26).
According to Tacoma Mayor Victoria Woodards, this designation positions the South Sound as a key hub for fan celebrations tied to the world’s most-watched sporting event. SeattleFWC26, the local organizing committee for Seattle’s role as one of 16 host cities, aims to create a legacy of soccer, innovation, and inclusion across the region.
“This is a historic day for Tacoma and Pierce County,” said Woodards. “Being selected as a SeattleFWC26 Fan Zone is a testament to our local readiness to provide safe and welcoming spaces for celebrating incredible moments and hosting world-class events. I look forward to showcasing our vibrant local community on the global stage and celebrating soccer in a way only Tacoma and Pierce County can. Pierce County Executive Ryan Mello highlighted the significance of this opportunity.
“Welcoming the world to the South Sound is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase our dynamic region,” he said. “Hosting a SeattleFWC26 Fan Zone offers Pierce County residents and visitors alike a great way to share in the excitement of Puget Sound hosting this international event.”
The Tacoma and Pierce County Fan Zone will feature a range of events and activities designed to engage fans and celebrate the region’s culture and community:
Live Match Screenings: Large public screens will broadcast FIFA World Cup matches, providing fans with a shared viewing experience.
Cultural Exhibitions: Local musicians, artists, and cultural groups will perform, spotlighting the area’s diverse arts scene.
Interactive Soccer Clinics: Fans of all ages can participate in clinics and workshops aimed at promoting soccer at the grassroots level.
Local Cuisine and Markets: Food festivals will showcase local culinary delights, while markets will highlight artisans and small businesses.
