T20 World Cup 2024: News | Schedule | Results | Points Table
Bangladesh take on Nepal in their last Group D match while the Netherlands will be up against Sri Lanka. South Africa have already qualified for the Super 8 from Group D.
Bangladesh are currently second in the table with four points while the Netherlands are third with two points. In such a case, the scenarios are very simple.
Bangladesh will qualify for Super 8 if they win their match and regardless of what happens in the Netherlands vs Sri Lanka game. But if Bangladesh lose, then the Netherlands can move to four points by beating Sri Lanka. In such a case, the team with a better NRR will reach the Super 8.
Bangladesh currently have an NRR of +0.478 while it’s in the negative for the Dutch side.
The scenarios are such that even rain cannot add a lot of twists.
If both games get washed out, then Bangladesh will go through.
Bangladesh will qualify even if their match gets washed out and Netherlands beat Sri Lanka. In this case, Bangladesh will get one point and move to five while the Netherlands can only reach a maximum of four points.
