Sweden’s Paulsson, Hungary’s Meszaros and Italy’s De Rosa doubly golden at World Challenge Cup of Szombathely – International GYMNAST Magazine Online

Tonya Paulsson of Sweden, Krisztofer Meszaros of Hungary and Edoardo De Rosa of Italy were double victors at the World Challenge Cup of Szombathely, Hungary, that ended Sunday.
Paulsson claimed golds on balance beam and floor exercise after taking silver on uneven bars. Born August 28, 2003, in Slottsstaden, she trains under coach Janie Shaw Ahlstrom at GK Motus-Salto in Malmö. Paulsson placed seventh all-around and seventh on uneven bars at the 2018 Youth Olympics Games, and 14th all-around at the 2021 and 2023 European Championships. Her previous World Challenge Cup bests were seventh place on vault and fifth place on uneven bars at the 2021 World Challenge Cup of Osijek.
Kazakhstan’s Darya Yassinskaya earned the first World Challenge Cup or World Cup medal of her career when she finished first on vault. Yassinskaya, who turned 21 on September 10, placed seventh on vault at the 2022 World Cup of Cairo, sixth on vault at the 2023 World Cup of Baku and eighth on vault at the 2023 World Cup of Doha.
Charlotte Booth of Great Britain took gold on uneven bars. A native of Orlando, Florida, she turned 18 on September 22. Booth was named a reserve for the British team at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Before representing Great Britain, she placed 15th all-around at the 2022 U.S. Championships and 24th all-around at the 2023 U.S. Championships.
In the men’s competition, Meszaros successfully defended his 2023 floor exercise title and thereby collected his third World Challenge Cup floor exercise gold. He won the title on horizontal bar, regaining the gold on that apparatus he won in Szombathely three years ago.
De Rosa completed his set of World Challenge Cup medals on pommel horse by winning gold on that apparatus, and then earned gold on parallel bars, his first World Challenge Cup medal on that apparatus.

Born February 14, 2000, in Sesto San Giovanni, De Rosa was second on pommel horse at the 2021 World Challenge Cup of Varna, seventh on pommel horse at the 2022 World Cup of Baku, third on pommel horse at the 2023 World Challenge Cup of Paris and eighth on pommel horse at the 2024 World Challenge Cup of Varna. He also took gold on pommel horse at the 2018 Junior European Championship in Glasgow.
Nikita Simonov of Azerbaijan won his fifth World Challenge Cup gold on still rings, following his victories in Osijek in 2019, Koper in 2019, Varna in 2022 and Mersin in 2023.
Kazakhstan’s 20-year-old Assan Salimov earned his second vault gold of the 2024 World Challenge Cup series, having placed first at the World Challenge Cup of Antalya in March. He claimed bronze on floor exercise at the World Challenge Cup of Varna in May.

International Gymnast Online’s features on 2024 World Challenge Cup of Szombathely competitors include:
As the lone Australian male artistic gymnast competing at this summer’s Paris Olympic Games, Jesse Moore more than admirably represented his country and himself as he advanced to the all-around final and placed a respectable 21st.
Following her 10th-place all-around finish at the Paris Olympic Games this summer, Dutch gymnast Naomi Visser told International Gymnast Online that a post-Games holiday in Spain has refreshed her for new competitive goals and opportunities.
Theresa Kulikowski-Gillespie’s experiences as a champion gymnast, battalion physician assistant for the U.S. Army in Iraq and holistic wellness, mindfulness and lifestyle medicine professional inspired her recently published second book, Beyond the Chalk Box, a collection of revealing interviews with 10 U.S. Olympic gymnasts.
2024 Olympic double bronze medalist Stephen Nedoroscik continued to impress as he and partner Rylee Arnold’s paso doble earned high marks from all three judges on the second episode of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ on Tuesday.
