The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Assembly has ushered in a new President Hussein Mohammed.
Mohammed who is also the CEO of Extreme Sports was elected on Saturday during the Elective Special General Meeting (SGM) held at the Kasarani Gymnasium in Nairobi.
Mohammed collected 42 votes in the first round of voting, 11 more than second-placed, immediate former FKF vice president Doris Petra.
In third place was former FKF CEO Barry Otieno who received 10 votes, followed by Kakamega Homeboyz owner Cleophas Shimanyula (four votes), Gor Mahia legend Sammy Kempes Owino (two votes), Chris Amimo (one) and Tom Alila (one).
Following failure to garner the required 50 per cent threshold for an outright win, the polls were set for a three-way battle in the second round, involving Mohammed, Petra and Otieno.
However, Petra left delegates at the Kasarani Gymnasium in shock when she conceded to Mohammed before Otieno followed suit, half an hour later.
“Thank you to all the delegates who believed in the fresh start and voted for change. This is not just our win – it’s a win for every player, fan, club, and supporter who dreams of a better future for our game,” said the new FKF President.
Mohammed will be deputised by former Harambee Stars and Inter Milan midfielder Macdonald Mariga who was his running mate.

Tanzanian Premier League reigning champions Young Africans SC will be hoping to return to winning ways when the face MC Alger in a 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League Group A tie on Saturday.
The tricky encounter will take place at the Stade du 5 Juillet in the capital Algiers
After losing their opening Group A match 2-0 to Sudan’s Al Hilal in Dar es Salaam last weekend, Young Africans SC’s new coach Sead Ramovic will be hoping that his team can return strongly.
“We need to be very cautious because the match is away from home and we must play better than we played against Al Hilal,” says Ramovic.
“We are coming up against a difficult team with many experienced players but we also have a side with very good players too. We are under pressure after losing our first game but that also gives us the strength to prepare well for tomorrow’s encounter,” added the coach.
While Young Africans SC suffered defeat in their opening Group A match, MC Alger picked a goalless draw away to TP Mazembe in DR Congo.
Group A table leaders Al Hilal will return to action against TP Mazembe on Sunday in a match they will hosts at the Cheikha Ould Boïdiya Stadium, Nouakchott in Mauritania.

Tanzanian side Simba SC have made a good start in Group A of the 2024/2025 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup.
Coach Fadlu Davids’ side picked a narrow 1-0 win against the Angolan side Bravos do Maquis in a match played at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
The hosts started on a high with several attacks, as the visitors tried to adapt and adjust to the game.
It was Jean Charles Ahoua who put Simba SC ahead when he converted a penalty after 27 minutes after Edmilson Paulo Generoso had handled the ball in the box.
The Ivorian made no mistake from the spot placing the ball past the Bravos do Maquis goalkeeper.
Simba SC continued to push forward with Ugandan international Steven Mukwala having many attempts at goal.
After recess the visitors were awarded a penalty taken by Emmanuel Edmond which the Simba SC goalkeeper Moussa Camara saved after 48 minutes.
Bravos do Maquis again had Jó Paciência and Macaiabo come close to scoring, but his effort narrowly missed the target.
Simba’s Joshua Mutale also hit the post in the 66th minute, coming agonizingly close to doubling the lead.
The Angolan team continued to push forward in search of an equalizer, but the defending line of experienced Shomari Kapombe and Mohamed Hussein stood firm.
“We are happy that we have picked maximum points in this tough first match of the group stage. I want to thank the fans for all the support,” said Simba SC’s coach after the match.
In the second Group A match played later visiting CS Constantine (Algeria) defeated Tunisia’s Sfaxien 1-0.
