The Storm Lake Tornado Girls Soccer team fell to the Spirit Lake Indians 4-0 in Class 2A Region 2 First Round
The game started at 7:04 pm and the teams would work to a draw in the first 11:04 of the game before a lightning strike caused a delay. The delay would last an hour and a half before the game resumed at 8:45 pm. After the action picked up the teams would make it to the halftime break tied. The teams would come out of the halftime break and the defenses would again be on display. The Tornadoes would again lockdown. The Indians would strike at 23:54 when Claire Turner struck to make it 1-0. Just two minutes later the Indians would connect again off a great crossing pass to make it 2-0. The Indians would add two more Turner goals (17:32 and 9:46 off a PK) to lead 4-0. The game would have one more delay with 8:36 to go in the game, this time due to the lights turning off. After a five-minute delay, the lights came back on and the game concluded with the Indians’ 4-0 victory.
The loss ends the Storm Lake season at 2-10, and the Tornadoes say goodbye to eight seniors. With the win Spirit Lake improves to 12-1 and advances to the 2A-2 Semi-Final at 2A #9 Spencer next Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
