STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football’s Elite Camp on Saturday ended with a commitment.
Corey Clark, a 2024 JUCO defensive lineman at Northeast Mississippi Community College, announced his commitment to the Bulldogs Saturday afternoon after being a camp participant.
Clark, 6-foot-3, 290 pounds from Birmingham, Ala, tallied five tackles, 1/2 of a tackle for loss and two fumble recoveries for the Tigers last season, according to NECC’s athletic website.
Clark began his college career at North Alabama in 2022, where he tallied three tackles in four games.
Clark took advantage of a rare summer open scholarship, when transfer defensive tackle Anthony Johnson flipped his commitment from Mississippi State out of the portal to Pittsburgh. Johnson spent the first season of his college career at Bowling Green before transferring to Youngstown State. He spent spring ball with Illinois before re-entering the portal and committing to Mississippi State in April.
Clark told GenesPage.com plans to enroll in July ahead of this year’s season.
Clark became the fifth spring portal add for first-year head coach Jeff Lebby, joining Memphis cornerback DeAgo Brumfield, Utah State running back Davon Booth, New Mexico State wideout Trent Hudson and West Virginia cornerback Montre Miller
The Bulldogs open the 2023-24 season against Eastern Kentucky on Aug. 31 at Davis Wade Stadium.
