CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – South High School Girl’s Soccer is fresh off their best season in school history. Now, one of their own is going on to play at the next level.
Forward Emma Cortez signed the dotted line to play for Laramie County Community College Women’s Soccer.
As a vocal senior leader, Cortez scored three goals and assisted on two this past season. The biggest of those goals was the difference maker in the programs first win against Thunder Basin.
Now she aims to continue to develop as a Golden Eagle.
“I’m just ready to put my heart out there and give all that I did this season and maybe even more next season,” Cortez said. “Playing with LCCC I’m going to put everything into.”
LCCC’s Women’s Soccer program has seen recent success in both the regular and post seasons. Cortez will be looking to instill some Bison history into that success.
“It means a lot. I’m doing this also for South and showing them that you can go into the collegiate level and you can keep playing., I’m just trying to inspire all these other girls too. You keep playing and it’s worth it.”
