Mayor Kathy Sheehan spoke with NewsChannel 13’s Mark Mulholland about her thoughts on a proposed soccer stadium and the reimaging of 787.
Sheehan said she is optimistic that the developers of the 8,000-seat facility can make that dream a reality.
“There is a private party who is willing to put up millions of dollars of their money to bring a team here. And we want to build a stadium in our downtown with housing around it and do the types of things that have been really successful in other cities,” she said.
Sheehan said more development in the area known as the “parking lot district” can help spur momentum for improvements to the 787 corridor to bring residents closer to the river.
